A structural response to unemployment. Built as public infrastructure.
Smarch matches people into complementary teams and guides them through a structured programme to build real companies together. It exists to create new opportunity — not to redistribute the old.
Structural response
Designed to create new opportunity, not to help people compete harder for the same limited openings.
Team formation
Participants are matched into complementary teams, so skills, motivation and working styles reinforce each other.
Nonprofit. Permanently.
Smarch is a Swedish ideell förening. Participation is free, and we never take money from participants.
Built in Sweden
A registered Swedish nonprofit association, developed as part of the Valleyberg ecosystem.
Why Smarch exists
Too many people stay trapped in long job-search cycles even when they have useful skills, strong motivation and real potential. Smarch was created to offer a more structural path forward.
Instead of treating unemployment as a problem solved only by screening people for existing roles, we help people form teams, develop real project direction, and build toward new opportunity together.
How the model works
- One structured application — no CV, no cover letters.
- Smarch matches people into complementary teams. The queue prioritises those who have been searching longest.
- Teams work through a structured programme, paced over ~6 weeks, moving at their own speed.
- Every week has a deliverable, a meeting, and staff support.
- The goal is real traction: a registered company — or an honest reason it didn't work.
Theory of change
Smarch is part programme, part platform, part long-term intervention model. It is built around a simple idea: when people are excluded from opportunity for long periods, the answer cannot be more screening into the same limited openings.
The platform focuses on structured collaboration, team formation, and practical venture-building support — creating new opportunity instead of redistributing existing roles.
The long-term vision is that companies come to people — not the other way around.

Designed to work alongside institutions — not around them.
For municipalities, employment services and long-term unemployment interventions, Smarch can serve as an operational complement: a team-formation unit for the people who need a more structural path than placement alone.
Institutional and collaboration partners
We are actively seeking collaboration with government bodies, employment agencies, municipalities, and grant-making organisations that share the mission. This is not a sponsorship — it's a collaboration.
